In 2019, the ceremony surrounding the Order of the Laurel took place under the auspices of the heads of Senate and Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, Jaroslav Kubera a Radek Vondráček respectively, the Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček, the Mayor of Prague Zdeňek Hřib, and the Vice-Mayor of Prague 1, Petr Hejma. During the ceremony, the Czech business community gave symbolic thanks to Václav Havel for their freedom and the opportunity to put their business prowess to use. The former president, playwright, and dissident became a recipient of the Order of the Laurel in memoriam – an honor bestowed by business to the greatest personalities of the Czech Republic and abroad. Fifteen people received the honor this year. One individual who also received much acknowledge during this evening hosted by the Chamber of Commerce was the singer, actor and signatory of the Charter 77, Marta Kubišová. This formerly “forbidden” singer is considered one of the symbols of the Velvet Revolution. Marta Kubišová received the Order of the Laurel in the area of culture. Felix a spol., the legal partner of the Chamber of Commerce, was represented at the event by Tomáš Pekárek and his wife Lada.
